Urban Wilderness Staff Host Canoeing Session
By Ben Woods
The sun was out, masks were (mostly) on, and the pond at Burnet Woods was buzzing with boat traffic. This Saturday, our Urban Wilderness Program staff hosted a free canoeing session as part of the Great Outdoor Week, a series of nearly 100 outdoor events across Cincinnati.
In our fleet of Old Town and homemade skin-on-frame canoes, first-time paddlers quickly became skillful sternsmen and sternswomen, and were cruising the length of the pond in no time. When folks did get stranded, Trace Dunning and Dima Warner were there for the rescue.
Burnet Woods, an expansive wooded park in the heart of Cincinnati, is the future home of the Foundation’s Urban Wilderness Center. Stay tuned!
